.org.pk domain registration from Pakistan

.org.pk is the Pakistani address for groups that are not run for profit. PKNIC, the body that runs every .pk name from its office in Lahore, sets it aside for non-profit organisations. We register it in your organisation's own name, on the same two-year billing cycle that applies to every .pk domain.

Price and how to order

Who uses .org.pk

  • Registered NGOs and welfare trusts
  • Charities and zakat or sadaqah funds
  • Community, alumni and sports associations
  • Religious and educational societies
  • Professional bodies and chambers

A Karachi welfare trust or a Lahore alumni association on a .org.pk address tells donors at a glance that it is Pakistani and not a business. The name is filed in the trust's own name, so the committee keeps control even if the volunteer who built the website moves on. We confirm the name is free, take payment in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa, and aim to file with PKNIC the same working day the money arrives.

Eligibility and rules

Who may register: PKNIC lists .org.pk for non-profit organisations. Its policy and registration pages name no documents and no proof of non-profit status for .org.pk, and no local presence in Pakistan is needed. Every registration is provisional until PKNIC completes its review, which it aims to finish within 30 days.

  • Length: one to 63 characters before .org.pk, and the whole domain cannot exceed 70 characters (PKNIC domain structure page).
  • Hyphens and reserved labels: a name cannot begin or end with a dash or contain two dashes together. The labels pk, www and the second-level suffix names such as com, net and org are reserved under every suffix, so www.org.pk or net.org.pk cannot be registered. PKNIC's pages describe no Urdu or other non-Latin .pk domains.
  • Term: fees are charged in two-year blocks and can be paid up to ten years ahead; PKNIC's renewal fee per year equals its registration fee. The fee PKNIC itself publishes for registrants in Pakistan is Rs 2,100 per year, raised by Rs 300 from Rs 1,800 on 1 August 2026 (notice on the PKNIC home page; current rate on pknic.net.pk/pricing.html). That is the registry's own rate, not our price, which is on /pricing/.
  • Expiry: once a fee is overdue PKNIC may deactivate the domain at its discretion; the owner then has a two-week hold period to pay and reactivate it, after which PKNIC can offer the name to others first come, first served (policy section 22). PKNIC publishes no separate grace or redemption period.
  • Registrant lock: the domain name cannot be altered after registration and the registrant record is locked. Changing it, or moving the domain to another registrar, needs original paper documents posted to PKNIC in Lahore: an authority letter on letterhead signed by the CEO, director or head plus a copy of that signatory's CNIC for an organisation, or an affidavit on Rs 100 stamp paper attested by an oath commissioner or notary public for an individual. Scanned letters are not accepted. PKNIC verifies the documents by phone and the change takes about three to four working days after that. An expired domain cannot be transferred or unlocked. No transfer lock period is published.
  • Review and WHOIS: a name may go live provisionally without human review, subject to PKNIC's full review within up to 30 days; if PKNIC asks for clarification and hears nothing within 15 days the application is treated as rejected (policy section 20). No local presence is required (section 6). PKNIC's WHOIS shows who registered a name, and its policy treats all registration details as public information with no confidentiality option (section 12).

PKNIC fixes the registrant name at registration and does not change it afterwards. Type it exactly as it should appear on record when you order.

Questions about .org.pk

Do I need to send documents to register a .org.pk domain?

PKNIC's public pages list no documents for .org.pk, unlike .edu.pk and .gov.pk which have their own requirement pages. PKNIC can still ask an applicant for clarification during its review, and an application is treated as rejected if there is no reply within 15 days. Paper documents are needed later only if you change the registrant details or move the domain to another registrar.

What is the shortest term I can register .org.pk for?

Two years. PKNIC charges every .pk name in two-year blocks and lets you pay for up to ten years in advance.

Can I change the organisation's name on the domain later?

The domain name itself can never be changed once registered. The registrant record is locked, and updating it means posting original documents to PKNIC in Lahore: an authority letter on letterhead with a CNIC copy for an organisation, or an affidavit on Rs 100 stamp paper for an individual. Get the organisation's exact registered name right before we file.

What happens if we miss the renewal date?

PKNIC may deactivate the domain once the fee is overdue. You then have a two-week hold period to pay and reactivate it. After that PKNIC can offer the name to anyone else on a first come, first served basis.

Must our organisation be based in Pakistan to register .org.pk?

No. PKNIC's policy says the registrant needs no local presence and the admin contact need not be in Pakistan. PKNIC does charge a different fee, in US dollars, for registrants or registrars outside Pakistan.

Does the domain name have to match our registered name?

PKNIC's policy says there is no restriction requiring the name to match the organisation or its trademarks. It does reserve the right to cancel or transfer a name if someone shows it infringes a trade name registered in Pakistan, so pick a name you can defend.
