.ae domain registration from Pakistan
.ae is the country code domain of the United Arab Emirates, run by the .ae Domain Administration (.aeDA) under the TDRA in Dubai. A name directly under .ae is open to any applicant anywhere, so a person or company in Pakistan can hold one without a UAE visa, office or trade licence. The third-level zones such as co.ae are different: they are reserved for bodies licensed or established in the UAE.
Price and how to order
Loading the current .ae price…
Search any name on the availability checker, or go straight to the order form. We confirm availability before registering, you pay in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa, and the domain is registered in your own name.
Who uses .ae
- Pakistani exporters and traders selling into the UAE
- Freelancers and agencies with Dubai or Abu Dhabi clients
- Overseas Pakistanis running a business from the Emirates
- Pakistani brands protecting their name in the Gulf
- Recruitment, travel and property firms serving the UAE market
Pakistan's envoy to the UAE put two-way trade above US$10.9 billion in FY2023-24, which makes the UAE Pakistan's third-largest trading partner after China and the United States, and the embassy counts more than two million Pakistanis living there, so a .ae address tells a buyer in Sharjah or Dubai that you are serious about serving them. Because the plain .ae zone needs no UAE trade licence, a Sialkot surgical goods exporter, a Lahore design studio with Dubai clients or a Karachi recruitment agency placing staff in the Emirates can hold yourname.ae in their own name from Pakistan. co.ae only comes into reach if you later set up a mainland or free zone company in the UAE or hold or apply for a UAE trade mark, and it must go through a UAE-based registrar; for plain .ae we file in your name, confirm availability before anything is submitted, and accept payment in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa, aiming to file the same working day the payment lands.
Eligibility and rules
Who may register: A name directly under .ae is open to anyone, anywhere: the .ae Domain Name Policy (AEDA-POL-007, section 10) says applicants need not supply any documentary evidence or meet any requirement beyond the general naming rules and the registrant warranties (that your details are true, that you will not use the name unlawfully and that you keep meeting the eligibility rules). The restricted third-level zones (co.ae, net.ae, org.ae, sch.ae, ac.ae, gov.ae, mil.ae) are limited to bodies licensed, registered or established in the UAE and may only be filed through accredited registrars based in the UAE (sections 5.2.8 and 11 to 16).
- Name length and characters: 2 to 63 characters, English letters, digits and hyphens only; the name must start and end with a letter or digit, may not have a hyphen in the third and fourth positions, and may not contain spaces (AEDA-POL-007, section 8.5; TDRA FAQ question 14).
- No Arabic or other non-Latin characters under .ae itself. Arabic names are handled under a separate UAE country code domain, .امارات (dotEmarat, xn--mgbaam7a8h), which IANA lists with the same manager.
- Licence term: 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years at registration, and renewal in the same blocks; the total term after a renewal may not exceed 5 years plus 90 calendar days counted from the date of renewal (AEDA-POL-007, section 8.2; AEDA-POL-012, section 6).
- Grace period: a registration or renewal can be cancelled within 3 calendar days and the registry fee is refunded to the registrar; the policy says the window is for fixing typing and similar errors, not for testing names (AEDA-POL-012, section 4).
- Expiry: an unrenewed .ae goes into Expired Hold and its DNS records are removed. Renewal is still allowed for 30 calendar days from that point; after that renewals are refused and from day 31 the name is eligible to be purged, which releases it for anyone to register. The policy has no separate paid redemption stage (AEDA-POL-012, section 7.2).
- Transfers: moving to another registrar is free of charge by policy, needs a written request with the domain password (auth code) plus a confirmation from the registrant, keeps the remaining term and goes through 2 calendar days after it starts unless the old registrar approves it sooner (AEDA-POL-010, sections 3, 4 and 6). A change of registrant on a plain .ae is allowed to any eligible third party at any time on a signed written request, and the registrar may charge a service fee (AEDA-POL-011, sections 2.6 to 4).
- WHOIS: the registry's WhoIs policy lists the registrant's name, email, eligibility type and ID among the fields that may be published, and makes a registrant contact and a technical contact mandatory; it says nothing about privacy or proxy services (AEDA-POL-005, sections 5 and 7).
Questions about .ae
Can I register a .ae domain from Pakistan without a UAE company or visa?
Yes. The .ae Domain Name Policy says applicants for a name directly under .ae need no documentary evidence and no requirement beyond the general naming rules and the registrant warranties. We still need your name, email address and contact details, because the registry makes a registrant contact and a technical contact mandatory on every name.
What is the difference between .ae and .co.ae?
Plain .ae is the unrestricted zone and is open to anyone. co.ae is a restricted zone for commercial entities trading in the UAE: you need a valid UAE trade licence, a free zone licence or a UAE trade mark application or registration, the name must match or closely relate to that company or mark, and it can only be filed through an accredited registrar based in the UAE.
How many years can I register a .ae for?
One to five years at registration, and you renew in one to five year blocks. After a renewal the total term may not exceed five years plus ninety calendar days counted from the date of renewal.
What happens if I miss the renewal date?
The name goes into Expired Hold and its DNS records are removed, so it stops resolving. You can still renew for 30 calendar days from that point; after that renewals are refused and from day 31 the name is eligible to be purged and released to the public. The policy has no separate redemption stage, so treat the 30 days as your only safety net.
Can I move my .ae to another provider or pass it to someone else?
Yes. A registrar transfer is free of charge under registry policy, needs the domain password and a written confirmation from you, keeps your remaining term and goes through two calendar days after it starts unless your old registrar approves it sooner. A change of registrant on a plain .ae is allowed to any eligible person on a signed written request; the registrar may charge a service fee.
Can a .ae name be in Arabic or Urdu?
No. Under .ae the registry allows only English letters, digits and hyphens. Arabic names are handled under a separate Emirati country code domain, .امارات (dotEmarat), which has its own policy that this page does not cover.
