If you sell products, .shop tells visitors what the site is before they open it. That helps a new brand nobody knows yet. A name like yourbrand.shop is often still free when yourbrand.com is taken. Use it for the store, and add .pk or .com.pk if you want a local signal. Many people type .com out of habit, so print the full address on your Instagram bio, packaging and receipts. The downside: .shop is less familiar than .com. First-year deals on global extensions are often followed by a higher renewal, and premium names can renew at premium rates. Eligibility and rules
Who may register: Open to everyone. The registry sets no local presence rule, and you do not need a company, a trade licence or a trademark. You must give real contact details: name, address, email and phone. Names go first come, first served. Some names are reserved or sold as premium, so check yours first on our guide “How to check if a domain name is available (and why "available" is not a promise)”.
- Open registration: no local presence or business proof needed, but your contact details must be accurate.
- Registrars list terms from 1 to 10 years. Ask us which terms we can file for your name.
- Some names are premium and cost more than a normal name. The registry flags them in search. Check the quote for your exact name. See our guide “What is a premium domain, and is it worth it?”.
- Some names are reserved by the registry or under ICANN rules and cannot be registered.
- Up to 63 characters: letters, numbers and hyphens only. No symbols or emoji. See our guide “Domain name rules: length, characters, hyphens and what you cannot register”.
- Names in 12 other languages and scripts (IDNs), such as Arabic, Chinese and Japanese, are supported. Ask us before ordering one.

What does a .shop domain mean?
It signals a shop, mostly an online one. It is a global extension run by GMO Registry in Japan. It is not tied to any country.
Is a .shop domain good for a Pakistani store?
