Pick .pro when the work is you. A consultant, designer, doctor, lawyer or trainer can put the profession right in the address, and the name reads clearly to clients abroad. It also helps when yourname.com is already taken. Choose .pk or .com.pk when your customers are mainly in Pakistan and want a local, familiar address. Choose .com when you sell to a global audience and want the extension people type without thinking. You can also hold two: .pro as your main profile and .com or .pk as a redirect. Eligibility and rules

Who may register: Open to anyone. The original rule that registrants prove a professional licence ended on 16 November 2015, and registrar notices now describe .pro as an unrestricted extension with no special registration requirements. You do not need to hold a licence, and nothing we found limits it by country, so a Pakistan-based owner can register in their own name.

• Anyone can register a .pro name. No licence, degree or proof of profession is asked for since November 2015.
• Terms of 1 to 10 years are the usual range for generic extensions. We confirm the exact term offered when you order.
• No country or residency limit appears in the registrar notices we checked, so a Pakistan-based owner can be the registrant.
• Names are registered directly at the second level, such as yourname.pro. The old profession-based addresses like name.law.pro belonged to the licensed era; the registrar notices we checked do not offer them.
• Standard domain rules apply: letters, numbers and hyphens, with a hyphen not at the start or end.
• Non-Latin (IDN) names are not supported for .pro, according to registrar notices, so Urdu-script names are not an option here.
• The extension is signed with DNSSEC at the root, which helps protect lookups when your DNS host supports it. Some names may be priced as premium; we confirm this before you pay.
