How to Choose a Domain Name for a Travel Agency in Pakistan
For a Pakistani travel agency, pick a short brand name plus a word like travel or tours, and register it as .com.pk, .pk or .com in the business owner's name. A .travel domain is restricted to verified travel-industry businesses, so check its current rules first. A domain never replaces the licence that Hajj and Umrah operators need from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Start with what the name must do
A travel agency domain has one job: a stranger should be able to say it aloud, spell it after hearing it once, and trust it enough to send a passport copy. Most of your customers will meet the name on WhatsApp, in a Facebook post or on a visiting card, so spoken clarity matters more than cleverness.
Keep it short, use common spellings, and avoid hyphens and digits, which people forget to mention when they pass the name on. We cover this in more detail on our guide “Hyphens and numbers in domain names: good or bad?” and our guide “Why Short Domain Names Cost More”.
Decide what the name promises. A name tied to one city or one service, such as Umrah only, is easy to remember today but can box you in if you add tours or ticketing later. A name built on your brand plus a plain word like travel or tours leaves room to grow.
Pakistani names: .pk, .com.pk or .com
For a Pakistani agency, .com.pk and .pk tell customers you are local, and .com is the extension people type by habit. All three work for a travel business, and many agencies register two and point them at one site.
Our price for .pk and .com.pk is Rs 4,499 for two years, with renewal at Rs 4,499. A .com is Rs 2,199 for the first year and Rs 4,199 a year to renew. We register in your own name, which matters because the registrant on a .pk name is fixed at registration. Read our guide “.pk vs .com.pk vs .com: which domain should a Pakistani business pick?” for the full comparison, or the .pk page and the .com page for each type.
If your customers include Pakistanis abroad who are booking family trips, .com is often the safer habit-typed choice. If most customers are in your own city, a .com.pk name reads as a local business and is easy to pair with a Google Business Profile, see our guide “How to add your website to Google Business Profile”.
What about a .travel domain?
A .travel name is a sponsored extension, meaning it is not open to everyone. The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center summary says applicants must be primarily carrying on business or operations in the travel industry, in one of 21 listed segments, and that agents and tour operators fall in that group. Challenges can be made if a holder does not meet those requirements.
Because the rules sit with the registry and can change, read the current charter on the registry's own site before you apply. We have not verified today's fees, verification steps or processing time, so we do not quote them here.
The practical question is whether it helps you. Customers in Pakistan type .com and .pk by reflex, and a .travel name can be mistyped. Some agencies register it as an extra and redirect it to the main domain. Treat it as an optional second name, not the first one.
Licensing: a domain is not a licence
A domain name says nothing about whether you may sell Hajj or Umrah packages. In Pakistan that is a matter for the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Press reports in July 2026 say the ministry will allow only approved companies to provide Umrah services and will publish the approved list on its website. For private Hajj operators, a ministry policy document for 2027 to 2030 describes registration and a recognition letter from the ministry.
Rules change, so confirm the current position on the ministry's website before you advertise any religious travel service. If you are not approved, do not use words in your domain or on your site that suggest you are.
If you are approved, put your licence or approval details on the site where visitors can see them. A domain simply gives that proof a home. We do not decide who is licensed and we cannot make a domain count as approval.
Avoid airline and booking-brand names
Do not put an airline, hotel chain or booking platform in your domain, even with words added, such as an airline name followed by tickets. It suggests you are that company or its official agent, and the owner can challenge the name or demand a transfer.
Use made-up examples to test your idea. A name like sunrisetravelsexample is fine as an illustration, but you must check the real one yourself. Search the brand names you plan to mention and read our guide “Check trademarks before registering a domain in Pakistan” and our guide “Domain name rules: length, characters, hyphens and what you cannot register” first.
You can still say on your pages which airlines you sell tickets for, in plain text, if you actually hold that arrangement. Keep the airline out of the web address. Also avoid copying a competitor's name with a small spelling change. It confuses customers and invites disputes, and it can hurt your own reputation when they compare notes.
Trust signals customers look for
Travel customers hand over money and passports weeks before they fly, so they look for proof. A matching business email such as bookings at your own domain looks far more serious than a free mailbox, and we host that, see our guide “How to set up business email on your own domain”.
Put your registered business name, office address, landline and WhatsApp number on every page. Show your approval or licence details if your service needs them. Add real customer feedback only if you can show who gave it, and never invent reviews.
Explain payment clearly: who gets the money, what a receipt looks like and what the refund terms are. A clean site helps, and our packages are on the website packages and our guide “Website design in Pakistan: cost and what to expect”. Our Rs 3,000 starter bundle on the offer page includes a .com, one year of hosting and one business email if you want a simple start.
Check the name before you commit
Make a short list of three or four names and test each one. Search them on the domain search, or paste the whole list into the bulk domain checker. If the .com you want is taken, look at the marketplace for existing names sold through escrow, or at our guide “Domain name ideas for a Pakistani business (with examples)” for other directions.
Then run a quick sanity check. Say each name aloud, write it in capitals and lower case, and read it with no spaces to make sure it does not spell something awkward. Ask two people who do not know your business to type it from memory.
When you are ready, you can order at the order form and pay in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa. Or message us on WhatsApp at +92 339 5166645 and we will check availability with you. Register it in the name of the business owner, not an employee or a freelancer.
Common questions
What is a good domain name for a travel agency in Pakistan?
Use your brand name plus a plain word like travel, tours or umrah, with a .com.pk, .pk or .com ending. Keep it short and easy to say over the phone, and check availability before printing cards.
Can any travel agency register a .travel domain?
A .travel domain is sponsored, so it is not open to everyone. WIPO says applicants must be mainly in the travel industry across 21 listed segments, so check the registry's current charter first.
Does having a domain name make my Umrah agency licensed?
No. A domain is only a web address. In Pakistan, Umrah service providers are expected to be approved by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, so check the ministry's site for the current rules.
Can I use an airline name in my travel agency domain?
We advise against it. An airline or booking-site name can imply you are that company, and the owner may challenge the domain. Mention airlines in page text if you hold the arrangement.
Is .com or .com.pk better for a travel agency?
Both work. .com.pk signals a local business, while .com is the habit-typed choice, especially for Pakistanis abroad. Many agencies register both and point them to one site.
How much does a travel agency domain cost with you?
Our price for .pk and .com.pk is Rs 4,499 for two years, renewing at Rs 4,499. A .com is Rs 2,199 for the first year and Rs 4,199 a year to renew.
