A domain for a clinic or doctor in Pakistan

A clinic or doctor in Pakistan should pick a short, easy-to-spell domain in the practice's own name, such as a .pk, .com.pk or .com, and register it in the clinic's own name. Use it for a simple website, a booking link and a professional email, and keep patient records off the public site. Then add that website to your Google Business Profile.

Why a domain builds trust with patients

Patients often check a doctor before they visit. They search the name, look at the map listing and may open the website. A domain in your own name, with matching email, helps show the practice is real and still running.

A free profile page or a Gmail address can look temporary. A proper domain looks settled. It also stays with you if you move rooms, change hospitals or add a partner. The address on your visiting card, prescription pad and signboard can stay the same for years.

Consistency matters too. Use the same name, phone number and address on the website, the map listing and your printed material. A domain gives you one place to keep those details correct.

Choosing a name patients can spell and remember

Keep it short. Say it aloud on the phone and ask if a friend can write it down without help. If not, change it.

Good patterns are the clinic name, the doctor's name, or the speciality plus the city.

  • Dr name plus speciality, such as a skin or dental practice
  • Clinic name plus city for a local practice
  • Avoid hyphens, number swaps and odd spellings
  • Avoid copying a famous hospital's name, which can confuse patients and cause trouble
  • Check the name works in English letters, since Urdu names have many spellings

Which extension suits a clinic

A .pk or .com.pk tells people you serve Pakistan. A .com is familiar to everyone and suits a doctor who also sees overseas patients online. Our guide at /pk-vs-com-pk-vs-com/ compares the three in more detail.

For .pk and .com.pk, PKNIC fixes the registrant name at registration, and the minimum term is two years. So register in the clinic owner's or doctor's real name, not a friend's or a staff member's. PKNIC's fee is Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants from 1 August 2026, and USD 15.99 per year for overseas ones. See /pk-domain-price/ for how this works, and /domain-name-rules/ for spelling and length rules.

Appointment links and a simple website

You do not need a large site. One page with your name, speciality, address, timings, phone or WhatsApp number and a booking link is enough to start.

Your domain can carry the booking link in a tidy form, for example a short address that opens your booking page or WhatsApp chat. Test it on a phone, since many patients will open it there. Keep the link working, because a dead booking link loses patients.

Professional email on the same domain, such as an appointments address, also helps when you write to labs, insurers or other doctors. If you need name suggestions, try /ideas/ or read /domain-name-ideas-pakistan/.

Keeping patient data private

A domain is only an address. What you put behind it matters more. Do not publish patient names, reports, photos or case details on the website without clear consent from the patient.

Do not take medical details through an ordinary contact form or a public chat group. If you use a booking tool, check who can see the entries and who can export them. Use strong passwords and keep the login to yourself and one trusted person.

Rules on health data in Pakistan are still developing, and we have not confirmed the current position, so ask a qualified lawyer or your professional body if you are unsure. We are a domain company, not legal advisers.

Linking the domain to Google Business Profile

Add your website address to your Google Business Profile so the listing and the site support each other. Google says the website on a profile should be the business's single main website, and its content should be owned and managed by the business owner.

Google chooses the verification method for each listing, so what you see may differ from another clinic. Follow the steps shown in your account. Google also expects a business to meet customers in person during stated hours. Keep your listing name, address and phone number the same as on your website.

If you do not yet own the name you want, check the marketplace at /#browse or search at /domains/. To register a new name in your own name, see /register-pk-domain/ and /order/.

Common questions

Should a doctor use .pk, .com.pk or .com?

Any of them can work. .pk and .com.pk signal a Pakistani practice, while .com suits doctors who also serve overseas patients. Pick the one that matches your patients and is easy to spell.

Whose name should the clinic domain be registered in?

The clinic owner's or doctor's own name. For .pk and .com.pk, PKNIC fixes the registrant name at registration, so a wrong name is hard to fix later.

Can I put patient reports or photos on my website?

Not without the patient's clear consent, and it is safer to avoid it. Keep medical records off the public site and ask a lawyer if you are unsure.

How long must I register a .pk domain for?

The minimum term is two years. PKNIC's fee is Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants from 1 August 2026, and USD 15.99 per year for overseas ones.
