How to add your website to Google Business Profile

Sign in to the Google Account that manages your profile, open your Business Profile, choose Edit profile, enter your full website address starting with https:// (or http://), and save. Google reviews changes before they appear. Use your own domain, and keep your name, address and phone number the same on the profile and on the site.

Steps to add or edit the website field

You need to be signed in with the Google Account that is linked to your profile. Google checks edits before they go live, so do not expect the change to show at once.

On a computer, open your Business Profile and edit it. On a phone, use the Google Maps app.

  • Computer: go to your Business Profile and select Edit profile.
  • Phone: open Google Maps, tap Business at the bottom right, then tap Edit profile.
  • Find the website field and type the full address.
  • Write the address with the protocol, either http:// or https://.
  • Save, then check back later to confirm the new link is showing.

Check your site before you link it

A link to a broken page does more harm than no link. Before saving, open your address on a phone and on a laptop. Make sure the page loads, shows your business name and gives a way to contact you.

Google also advises that Googlebot should not be blocked on your site. If your developer switched on a block while building, ask them to remove it. You can use Google Search Console to check for penalties on the site.

Some business categories can add extra links, such as for orders, reservations or appointments. Look for these in the same edit screen.

Why your own domain helps local search

Google says local results depend on relevance, distance and prominence. Prominence is partly about how many websites link to a business, along with reviews and ratings. A site on your own domain gives other pages one stable address to link to.

A free page on someone else's platform can change or vanish. A domain registered in your own name stays yours as long as you renew it. You can also run email on it, such as info@yourshop.pk.

Nobody can pay Google for a higher local ranking, so the aim is a complete, accurate profile with a site that backs it up. If you still need a name, search at /domains/ or get ideas at /ideas/.

Keep name, address and phone matching

Google says businesses with complete and accurate details are more likely to appear in local results. So treat your business name, address and phone number as one set, often called NAP.

Write them the same way everywhere: your profile, your website footer, your contact page and your social pages. If the profile says Plot 12, Block B, do not write B-Block, Plot-12 on the site.

Use a number customers can really call or message. Google lets you add up to two more numbers, mobile or landline, but not fax. Update every place at once whenever you move or change numbers.

Choosing a domain that suits a local business

Pick something short that people can say aloud and type from memory. Use your trading name where you can. Avoid hyphens and odd spellings, since customers will mistype them.

A .pk or .com.pk address tells local customers you are based in Pakistan. A .com can suit a business that also serves overseas buyers. Compare them at /pk-vs-com-pk-vs-com/, and check the spelling rules at /domain-name-rules/.

For .pk and .com.pk, PKNIC fixes the registrant name when the domain is registered, and the minimum term is two years. Make sure the registrant is your business or you, not a relative or a developer.

Getting a domain through SastiDomains

We are a small Pakistani company. We are not a registry or a registrar. We check availability live and register new domains in your own name through PKNIC or a registrar. If you would rather buy a name someone already owns, our marketplace at /#browse holds the payment in escrow until the transfer is done.

You can pay in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa, and we sell on WhatsApp. We aim to file on the same working day the payment arrives. Unpaid orders cancel after 48 hours, and you get a full refund if the name is taken before we file.

Start at /register-pk-domain/ or see /pricing/ for current figures.

Common questions

Why is my new website link not showing on Google yet?

Google reviews edits to a Business Profile before they go live, so there can be a delay. Check that the address includes https:// or http:// and that the page loads properly.

Can I use a Facebook page as my website?

Google's help page asks for the full URL of your website. A site on your own domain is the safer choice, because you control it and it stays yours. Google lets you add social links separately, one per platform.

Does Google need my phone number to match my website?

Google does not publish a matching rule, but it says accurate and complete details help. Using the same name, address and number everywhere is a sensible habit that avoids customer confusion.

Which domain should a shop in Pakistan choose?

A .pk or .com.pk shows a local base, while a .com suits wider reach. See /pk-vs-com-pk-vs-com/ to compare.
