How to choose a domain name for a solar company in Pakistan
For a Pakistani solar company, pick a short, easy-to-say name such as a brand word plus solar or a city plus solar, and register it as .pk, .com.pk or .com. Check the exact name on the domain search before you print it anywhere, and keep panel or inverter brand names out of it.
Start with a name a customer can say on the phone
Most solar customers in Pakistan find an installer by word of mouth, then look the company up before they call. So the domain has one job: be easy to hear, type and remember. If you have to spell it twice on a call, it is too hard.
Keep it short and use plain words. A made-up pattern such as [city]solar or [family name]energy works. So does a short brand word plus the city. Avoid numbers and hyphens, because people forget them or type them wrong. Our page our guide “Hyphens and numbers in domain names: good or bad?” explains why, and our guide “Why Short Domain Names Cost More” covers length.
Say the name aloud to a friend and ask them to write it down. If they get it wrong, change the name. Do this before you print it on vans, banners or invoices.
- Use words people already say, such as solar, energy or power
- Skip hyphens and digits
- Test how the name sounds in both Urdu and English speech
City plus solar: the pattern many installers reach for
A city name plus the word solar tells a customer where you work and what you do. In late October 2026 we checked a handful of city and solar combinations under .pk, and many were still open. That can change in a day, so do not rely on our note. Run the exact name you want through the domain search or the bulk domain checker the same hour you decide to buy.
Names directly under .pk need at least four characters, so a city plus solar is long enough. Also think about reach. If you serve three cities, a single-city name can hold you back later. A name with your brand word and no city lets you grow into new areas without a rebrand.

Choosing .pk, .com.pk or .com
For a Pakistani installer, .pk and .com.pk tell customers you are local. A .com is familiar to everyone and suits a company that may sell to buyers abroad, such as a supplier of components. Our page our guide “.pk vs .com.pk vs .com: which domain should a Pakistani business pick?” compares the three in detail.
Our prices: .pk and .com.pk cost Rs 4,499 for two years, with renewal at Rs 4,499. A .com costs Rs 2,199 for the first year and Rs 4,199 a year to renew. PKNIC charges Rs 2,100 a year for Pakistan-based registrants from 1 August 2026, billed two years at a time, and the registrant name is fixed at registration. So register in the company or owner name you want on the record.
If you want a .com plus one year of hosting and one business email to start, see the offer page.
What about .energy and .solar?
Both are generic extensions. IANA lists Binky Moon, LLC, care of Identity Digital, as the manager of .solar and of .energy. Its root database page for .solar states no eligibility restrictions. A registrar sets the final price and any extra terms, so read them before you pay.
The words fit the trade exactly, which helps recall. The downside is local habit. Many Pakistani customers type .com or .pk by default and may land on the wrong site or give up. If you pick .solar or .energy, also consider holding the matching .pk or .com so mistyped addresses still reach you.
We have not checked a live registry contract for either extension today, so confirm current rules and prices with the registrar at the time you buy.
Keep panel and inverter brands out of your domain
Putting a panel, inverter or battery brand into your domain may look like a shortcut to trust. It can also look as if you are the brand or its official agent. If you are not, the brand owner can object, and you could lose the name after you have printed it everywhere.
Use your own name and mention the brands you install in the page text. Claim official dealer status only if you hold it. Do not use a brand in a way that suggests a link you do not have.
Before buying, read our guide “Check trademarks before registering a domain in Pakistan” and our guide “Domain name rules: length, characters, hyphens and what you cannot register”. Our examples in this article are made-up patterns, not real companies, and any name you like must be checked for conflicts first.
What the website should show once you own the name
A solar buyer is spending a large sum, so the site should answer doubts fast. Put a WhatsApp button at the top so people can send a roof photo and a recent electricity bill and ask for a quote.
Show real past installations: city, system size and date, with the owner's permission. Add photos you took yourself. List your address and office hours so buyers know you exist.
Mention net metering only if you cite an official source. NEPRA hosts the NEPRA (Prosumer) Regulations, 2026 and a notification dated 6 August 2026 that amends them (S.R.O. 1330(I)/2026). Rules and rates change, so link to NEPRA rather than copying figures, and tell customers to confirm with their distribution company. A branded email address helps too: see our guide “How to set up business email on your own domain”.
Next steps
Pick three names, check them on the domain search, then register the one you can live with for years. Renewal costs are explained on our guide “What a domain costs to renew, and why year two can cost more”.
When the name is bought, you need a site. Our website packages are Rs 11,999, Rs 19,999 and Rs 24,999, and the details are on the website packages. Add a business listing as well, as we explain in our guide “How to add your website to Google Business Profile”, so people searching nearby can find you and call.
We register .pk, .com.pk and .com in the customer's own name through PKNIC or an accredited registrar. Payment is in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa.
Common questions
Is a city plus solar a good domain name?
It is easy to remember and tells customers where you work. If you plan to serve many cities, a brand name without a city leaves room to grow.
Should a solar installer use .pk or .com?
Use .pk or .com.pk if your customers are in Pakistan, and .com if you also sell abroad. Many companies hold both so mistyped addresses still arrive.
Can I use .energy or .solar for my company?
IANA lists no eligibility restrictions on its .solar page, and both extensions are managed by Binky Moon, LLC, care of Identity Digital. Your registrar may add terms, so read them and check the live price before buying.
Can I put a panel brand in my domain name?
It is risky, since the brand owner may object. Use your own name and write the brands you install on the page, claiming dealer status only if you hold it.
Can I mention net metering on my site?
Yes, if you link to an official source such as NEPRA and avoid copying rates that may change. Tell customers to confirm current rules with their distribution company.
Do you also build the website?
Yes, our website packages are Rs 11,999, Rs 19,999 and Rs 24,999. Details are on the website packages.
