How to Renew a .pk Domain (and What It Costs)

To renew a .pk domain, pay PKNIC's fee before the expiry date. You can pay it yourself from your PKNIC account, or a reseller can pay it for you. PKNIC charges Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants, billed two years at a time. If you miss the date, PKNIC can deactivate the domain, and you then have a two-week hold period to pay before the name can go to someone else.

What a .pk domain renewal costs

Most people who search for a pknic domain renewal price want one number. For a registrant based in Pakistan, PKNIC charges Rs 2,100 per domain per year. That rate applies from 1 August 2026. Before that date it was Rs 1,800.

There is one catch: PKNIC bills in two-year blocks. So one renewal payment covers two years, and you can pay for up to ten years ahead. The yearly rate stays the same, but each payment is bigger than a single year's fee.

Registrants or registrars outside Pakistan pay USD 15.99 per year instead. To compare with other extensions, see our guide “What a domain costs to renew, and why year two can cost more” and our guide “How much does a .pk domain cost in Pakistan?”.

  • Pakistan-based registrants: Rs 2,100 per year
  • Outside Pakistan: USD 15.99 per year
  • Billed every two years, payable up to ten years ahead

How to check your .pk expiry date

Do this before anything else. A pk domain expiry check takes a minute, and it tells you how much time you have.

Open the WHOIS lookup, type your full domain name, and read the expiry date in the result. Write it down, and set a phone reminder for at least a month earlier.

If you have a PKNIC account, you can also log in and look at your domain list. If you cannot remember who registered the name for you, the account may sit with a web designer or a former employee. Finding that out early saves a lot of trouble later.

You can also add names you care about to the watchlist so they are easy to keep an eye on.

  • Check the WHOIS lookup for the expiry date
  • Set a reminder one month before
  • Find out whose PKNIC account holds the domain

Renew directly in your PKNIC account

If the domain is in your own PKNIC account, you can pay PKNIC yourself. PKNIC usually issues an invoice a few weeks before expiry. You find it in the billing area of your account and pay it there.

To renew early, you make the invoice yourself. Open your list of domains, tick the names you want, and ask for an invoice for payment.

PKNIC also takes card payment inside the account, a cheque by post with its payment slip, or payment by an agent such as a reseller on your behalf. It does not take cash.

The direct route suits people who already have a working login and a payment method PKNIC accepts. Reminder emails are only a courtesy, so do not rely on them. Not getting one does not move your deadline.

Renew through a reseller like us

Many owners do not have a PKNIC login handy, or do not have a card that works for the payment. In that case a reseller can pay PKNIC for you.

We are a small Pakistani company, not PKNIC. Send us your domain name through the order form or on WhatsApp and say you want a renewal. We tell you the amount, and you pay in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa. We aim to file it the same working day the payment arrives.

Orders left unpaid cancel after 48 hours. Our prices are on the price list, and some are still quoted on WhatsApp. If you are unsure what a reseller is, read our guide “Registry, registrar and reseller: who owns your domain?” first. See also our guide “How to buy a domain in Pakistan with JazzCash, Easypaisa, Raast or bank transfer”.

What happens if you miss the date

If the fee is not paid by the due date, PKNIC may deactivate the domain. Your website and any email on that name can stop working at that point.

After deactivation there is a hold period of two weeks. During that time, the owner can still pay and get the domain working again.

When the hold ends, PKNIC can offer the name to other people on a first come, first served basis. Someone else can register it, and you may not get it back.

An expired domain also cannot be moved to another registrar. So renew first, and then deal with any move. More detail is on our guide “What happens when a .pk domain expires?” and our guide “.pk domain transfer, step by step”.

  • Due date passes: domain can be deactivated
  • Two-week hold: owner can still pay
  • After the hold: open to others, first come first served

Tips to avoid losing your domain

Most lost domains were not lost to bad luck. They were lost because nobody was watching the date.

Keep the account and billing contact emails on your PKNIC account current, and use addresses you actually read. That is where renewal reminders are sent.

Pay for more than two years if you can. PKNIC allows up to ten years, which removes the yearly worry.

Make sure the registrant name on the domain is yours or your company's. PKNIC fixes the registrant name at registration, so a name registered to someone else is hard to take over later.

Renew a few weeks early, not on the last day. Bank transfers and weekends cause delays. If the domain matters to your business, treat the date like a tax deadline. For safer habits, see our guide “Common domain scams in Pakistan and how to avoid them” and the guides.

Renewing other extensions

This guide is about .pk names. Other extensions renew differently, and their rules sit with different registries.

A .com domain, for example, has a wholesale fee set by Verisign. That fee is USD 10.26 today and rises to USD 10.97 on 1 November 2026. Registrars add their own charges on top, so the price you see varies.

A .com.pk name is also run by PKNIC, so the same renewal rules apply. If you are comparing options, our guide “.pk vs .com.pk vs .com: which domain should a Pakistani business pick?” explains the difference in plain terms, and the .com page covers .com.

If you pay PKNIC yourself, see our guide “PKNIC prepaid cards explained: what they are and how to pay for a .pk domain” and our guide “PKNIC login: how to access your .pk domain account”.
