Online store in Pakistan: how to start one
To start an online store in Pakistan, pick a product and price, register a domain name in your own name, choose a platform (your own website on Shopify or WooCommerce, or a marketplace listing such as Daraz), then set up payments and a courier. Add your tax registration with FBR as your sales grow, and sell on social media alongside the site. Many owners begin with a small catalogue and add products later.
Step 1: choose a product and set a price
Every online store in Pakistan starts with one clear product group. Pick something you can source again and again, and something you can describe honestly in photos and words.
Work out your real cost first. Add what you pay the supplier, packing, courier charges, payment charges and returns. Then add your profit. The number you land on is your selling price.
Start small. Ten good products with clear photos beat a hundred poor listings. Write the size, colour, material and return rule on every product page. Buyers in Pakistan often ask these questions on WhatsApp before ordering, so answering them on the page saves you time.
Step 2: register a domain name for your store
A domain is your store's address, such as yourbrand.com. Keep it short, easy to say aloud and easy to spell. Our guide on our guide “Choosing a domain for an online store in Pakistan” explains how to choose one, and the .store page and the .shop page cover the store-style extensions.
Most stores pick a .com because buyers type it by habit. Our .com is Rs 2,199 for the first year, and renewal prices are on the price list. Check a name first with our guide “How to check if a domain name is available (and why "available" is not a promise)”.
If you want a .pk, PKNIC charges Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants from 1 August 2026, billed two years at a time. PKNIC fixes the registrant name at registration, so register in your own name. Names directly under .pk need at least four characters.
Step 3: pick a platform
You have two broad routes. You can build your own store, or you can list on a marketplace. Many sellers do both.
Shopify is a hosted store builder. You pay Shopify for it, and you connect your own domain; see our guide “Shopify Store in Pakistan: Price, Payments and Domain” and our guide “How to connect your domain to Shopify”. WooCommerce is a plugin that adds a shop to WordPress. You need hosting for it; see our guide “WordPress website in Pakistan: what it costs and what you need” and our guide “Domain vs hosting: what is the difference?”.
A marketplace such as Daraz lets you list products on a site that already has shoppers. You follow the marketplace's seller sign-up and its rules. Daraz says it deducts a commission from each order, and the rate depends on the product category. Your listing sits on their site, not under your own brand address. A store on your own domain gives you the customer relationship and your own look. Check each platform's current fees on its own site before deciding.
Step 4: set up payments and delivery
Pakistani buyers use several ways to pay. Cash on delivery (COD) is common because many shoppers like to see the parcel first. Mobile wallets such as JazzCash and Easypaisa, bank transfer and debit or credit cards are the other usual options. Offer COD plus at least one prepaid method, and say clearly which ones you accept.
Card payments on your own site need a payment gateway or a plugin from a provider. Ask the provider about its sign-up papers and charges directly.
For delivery, compare courier companies such as TCS, Leopards, PostEx and Trax on coverage for your cities, pick-up service, parcel tracking and COD cash handling. Rates and delivery times change, so ask each courier for its current list. Send a test parcel to a friend in another city first. Put your delivery and return rules on a page of your store.
Step 5: tax registration with FBR
Business income in Pakistan can bring tax duties. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is the official source. We are not tax advisers, so please read FBR's own pages or ask a qualified accountant about your case.
FBR says an individual is treated as registered once e-enrolled on its IRIS portal, and the 13-digit CNIC serves as the NTN for individuals. Before e-enrolment FBR asks you to have your CNIC, a working mobile number, an email address, your nationality and your home address ready. If you have business income, it also asks for your business name, business address and principal business activity. Companies and partnerships follow their own forms.
Start at iris.fbr.gov.pk and the FBR page on registering for income tax. The steps and forms change over time, so follow the current instructions on the portal rather than an old guide.
Step 6: social selling, and what a website adds
Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp are where many Pakistani shops find their first buyers. Post real photos, reply fast and keep a pinned post with prices and delivery details. You can point your social bio to your domain using our guide “Point your domain to Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp”.
A website adds things a social page cannot. It gives you a stable address that you own, a catalogue buyers can search, a checkout flow, and a place that shows up when people search on Google. Add a Google listing too; see our guide “How to add your website to Google Business Profile”.
A business email on your own domain, such as orders@yourbrand.com, also looks more trustworthy than a general webmail address. See our guide “How to set up business email on your own domain”.

Common questions
How do I start an online store in Pakistan?
Choose a product and work out your selling price from your real costs. Register a domain in your own name, pick a platform such as Shopify, WooCommerce or a marketplace like Daraz, and set up payments and a courier. Then handle your FBR tax registration as needed and promote the store on social media.
How do I make an e-store in Pakistan?
An e-store needs a domain name, a store platform, product pages, a payment method and a delivery partner. You can build it yourself on a hosted builder such as Shopify, or add a shop to WordPress with WooCommerce. You can also hire a web designer to build it for you.
What do I need for an ecommerce store in Pakistan?
You need products you can supply, a domain name, a platform, ways for buyers to pay (usually cash on delivery plus a wallet, bank or card option) and a courier. You should also check FBR's rules for tax registration. A business email and clear delivery and return pages help build trust.
Online shopping website kaise banaye?
Pehle product aur price tay karein, phir apne naam par domain register karein. Uske baad Shopify ya WooCommerce jaisa platform chunein, products ki photos aur details dalein, payment aur courier set karein. Chhote catalogue se shuru karna theek rehta hai, phir products baad mein barhaye ja sakte hain.
How can I start an online business in Pakistan without a website?
You can sell through social media pages, WhatsApp and marketplace listings such as Daraz. This is a quick way to test products. A website of your own later gives you an address you own and a place for search traffic, and it does not replace your social pages.
Which payment methods do Pakistani online customers use?
Cash on delivery is common. Many buyers also pay through mobile wallets such as JazzCash and Easypaisa, by bank transfer, or by debit or credit card. Offering cash on delivery plus one prepaid method suits most stores. Card payments on your own site need a payment gateway from a provider.
Do I need an NTN to sell online in Pakistan?
That depends on your situation, and we cannot give legal or tax advice. FBR says individuals are registered through its IRIS portal, and the CNIC serves as the NTN for individuals. Read FBR's pages at iris.fbr.gov.pk or ask a qualified accountant about your case.
Which domain should my online store use?
A short, easy-to-spell .com is a common choice for stores. A .pk suits shops that serve Pakistan only. Our .com is Rs 2,199 for the first year. See our guide “Choosing a domain for an online store in Pakistan” for naming tips, and register the domain in your own name.
