Domain Name for Company: Rules, Examples and Checks
The usual choice for a domain name for company use is your registered company name or your main brand, kept short and easy to spell. Check it against your SECP registration and search the IPO Pakistan trademark register before you pay. Then pick .com, .com.pk or .pk, test availability, and set up business email on the same name.
Company name, brand or keyword: which one to pick
A domain name for company use should be easy to say on a phone call. That test matters more than any clever idea.
You have three starting points. The first is the full company name. It is clear, and customers who search for you will find it. The second is the brand name you use on signboards and packaging. If the brand is better known than the company, use the brand. The third is a keyword, such as a service plus a city. Keywords can describe you, but they are harder to own and easy to copy.
Our advice is simple. Lead with the name people already use for you. Add a keyword only if the name alone is too common. Avoid hyphens, double letters and spellings you must explain every time.

Match your registered company name and run trademark checks
If your business is registered with SECP, try to use a domain that matches the registered name. A match makes invoices, tax papers and bank forms look consistent. It also helps a customer trust that the website belongs to the real company.
Do a trademark check before you buy. A domain is not a trademark. Someone else may already hold rights to a similar name, even if the domain is still available. IPO Pakistan keeps the trademark register and offers an online search of word marks. Search the name there, look at who else trades under it, and ask a lawyer if the brand matters to your business. Our guide at our guide “Check trademarks before registering a domain in Pakistan” walks through the steps.
One more point. PKNIC fixes the registrant name at registration. So decide the legal owner first. Use the company, not a staff member, as the owner. See our guide “How to change the owner of a .pk domain” for why this matters later.
.pk, .com.pk or .com for a company
There is no single right extension. It depends on who you want to reach.
A .com is familiar worldwide and works well if you sell abroad or want a name that travels. A .com.pk signals a Pakistani commercial business. A plain .pk is short, but names directly under .pk need at least four characters before the dot.
Price is also part of the choice. PKNIC charges Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants from 1 Aug 2026, billed two years at a time. Verisign's wholesale .com fee is USD 10.26 and rises to USD 10.97 on 1 Nov 2026. Our own .com is Rs 2,199 for the first year, and renewal prices are on the price list.
For a full side-by-side, read our guide “.pk vs .com.pk vs .com: which domain should a Pakistani business pick?”. For one extension at a time, see the .com page and the .com.pk page.
Examples built from generic patterns
These are patterns, not real companies. Swap in your own words.
Pattern one is the plain company name: companynameltd.com or companyname.com.pk. Pattern two is the brand alone: brandname.com. Pattern three is name plus city: companyname-lahore is harder to say, so prefer companynamelahore.com only if the plain name is taken. Pattern four is name plus service: brandnametrading.com or brandnamelogistics.com. Pattern five is a short brand on .pk, such as brandname.pk, when it has four or more characters.
Avoid numbers, since callers must ask whether you mean the digit or the word. Avoid long strings of services, which are hard to type. Avoid a name that is almost a well-known brand.

Use the domain for business email
A company domain is not only for a website. Email on your own name, such as sales@yourcompany.com, looks more serious than a generic webmail address. Clients, banks and suppliers notice the difference.
So check that the name reads well in an email address. Say it aloud. Spell it to a friend. If it takes more than one try, shorten it.
We host business email on our own mail server. Our Rs 3,000 starter bundle includes a new .com registered in your name, 12 months of Hostinger hosting and one business email address, as one payment for the first 12 months. After that, each part renews at its normal yearly price, which we tell you before you buy. Details are on the offer page. To understand the setup first, read our guide “How to set up business email on your own domain” and our guide “Business email kaise banaye? Apne domain par professional email”.
Email also depends on correct DNS records. If you are unsure, our guide at our guide “DNS records explained: A, CNAME, MX and TXT” explains the basics in plain words.
Register the set and check availability
Once you pick a name, think about protecting it. Many companies register the main extension plus one or two close ones. For example, a .com and a .com.pk. This stops a stranger from taking the near-match and confusing your customers.
Do not buy every extension. Each one has its own renewal fee, and .pk names are billed two years at a time. Choose the ones that matter, and point the rest to the main site.
To check a name, use the domain search for one search. If you have several ideas, paste them into the bulk domain checker and compare the results in one go. Availability is checked live, so the result reflects the registry at that moment.
When you are ready, we register the domain in your own name through PKNIC or an accredited registrar. You can pay by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa. Sales and support are on WhatsApp. See the order form to start, or the membership plans for plans that bundle hosting.
Common questions
What is a good domain name for a business?
A good domain name for a business is short, easy to spell and easy to say aloud. It usually matches the company name or the main brand. Avoid hyphens, numbers and unusual spellings. Check availability and run a trademark check before you buy.
Can you give domain name for business examples?
Yes, using generic patterns only. Use companyname.com, brandname.com.pk, companynametrading.com or brandnamelogistics.com. If the plain name is taken, add a short service word or a city. Replace these placeholders with your own words and check each one for availability and trademark conflicts.
How do I check a domain name for my company?
Type the name into the search on the domain search to see whether it is available. For several ideas at once, use the bulk domain checker. Then check that the name matches your registered company name and does not clash with another brand's trademark on the IPO Pakistan register.
Should my domain match my SECP company name?
It helps, because invoices, bank forms and the website all look consistent. If the exact name is taken, use the brand name or a close version. The legal owner of the domain should still be your company, since PKNIC fixes the registrant name at registration.
Is .com or .com.pk better for a company in Pakistan?
Neither is always better. A .com works well for a global audience, while .com.pk signals a Pakistani commercial business. Many companies register both and use one as the main site. Compare them on our guide “.pk vs .com.pk vs .com: which domain should a Pakistani business pick?”.
What domain name should I use for business email?
Use the same domain as your website, so addresses look like sales@yourcompany.com. Pick a name that is easy to spell over the phone. We host business email on our own mail server, and our Rs 3,000 starter bundle includes one business email with a .com and 12 months of hosting.
What are company domain name ideas if my name is taken?
Try your brand name, the name plus a service word, or the name plus a city without hyphens. You can also try another extension such as .com.pk. Keep it short and avoid names that look like an existing well-known brand.
How much does a company domain cost in Pakistan?
Our .com is Rs 2,199 for the first year. PKNIC charges Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants from 1 Aug 2026, billed two years at a time. Renewal and other prices are on the price list, and many are quoted on WhatsApp.
Should I register more than one domain for my company?
Often yes, but only a few. Register the main extension and one or two close ones to protect the brand. Redirect the extra names to your main site. Do not register every extension, since each one has its own renewal fee.
