Domain registration in Pakistan: questions people ask
To register a domain in Pakistan, check that the name is available, pay in rupees, and have it registered in your own name. A .pk domain is registered through PKNIC, the .pk registry, which charges Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants from 1 August 2026, billed two years at a time. SastiDomains files the order for you and accepts bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash and Easypaisa.
How to register a domain in Pakistan, step by step
Domain registration in Pakistan is a short job. You pick a name, check it is available, pay, and the registration is filed. The domain is then yours.
Start with our guide “How to check if a domain name is available (and why "available" is not a promise)” to see if your name is taken. If you want ideas first, try the name idea tool or read our guide “Domain name rules: length, characters, hyphens and what you cannot register”. When the name is available, place the order at the order form.
Pay in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa. Once your payment reaches us, we file the registration. You can follow the order at the order tracking page.
We register the domain in your own name. A new registration needs no office visit and no courier. If you get stuck, message us on WhatsApp. A longer walkthrough is on our guide “How to register a .pk domain (PKNIC rules explained)”.
Who runs .pk and who may register
PKNIC runs the .pk registry. It operates the shared registry system and the root DNS servers for .pk names. It does not sell hosting or email. Companies like ours are not PKNIC. We send your order to PKNIC, or to an accredited registrar for other endings.
PKNIC's fee page lists no company requirement for an ordinary .pk name, and its Change Registrar page has a separate process for domains owned by individuals. So an individual can own a .pk name. PKNIC also sets a fee for registrants based outside Pakistan, so a foreign buyer can register too.
Two rules matter a lot. First, once a .pk domain is registered, PKNIC does not allow the domain name itself to be changed. Second, the registrant record is locked after registration. Changing it later means sending original signed documents to PKNIC by post. So check the spelling and the registrant name before you pay. If the owner must change later, read our guide “How to change the owner of a .pk domain”.
To learn more about the registry itself, see our guide “What is PKNIC? How the .pk registry works”.
What a .pk domain costs and how long you pay for
PKNIC charges Rs 2,100 per year for registrants based in Pakistan. This took effect on 1 August 2026. The old fee was Rs 1,800. Registrants outside Pakistan pay USD 15.99 per year.
PKNIC bills in two-year blocks. You can pay for up to ten years. So your first payment for a .pk name covers at least two years of fees.
Names directly under .pk need at least four characters. Under .com.pk and similar endings, PKNIC allows names as short as one character. So a very short name may need an ending like .com.pk.
Other endings have other prices. Our .com is Rs 2,199 for the first year. Renewal and other prices are on the price list. Many are still quoted on WhatsApp. For .pk detail, see our guide “How much does a .pk domain cost in Pakistan?”.
Paying with JazzCash, Easypaisa, Raast or a bank
You do not need a dollar card to buy a domain from us. Everything is paid in rupees.
We accept bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash and Easypaisa. Send the amount we quote, then share the payment proof on WhatsApp. We match it to your order and file it.
Pay only into the accounts shown on our order page or given by us on WhatsApp. If someone sends you different account details from an unknown number, stop and ask us first.
Keep your payment receipt until the domain shows in your name. The page our guide “How to buy a domain in Pakistan with JazzCash, Easypaisa, Raast or bank transfer” explains each method in more detail.
How long does .pk registration take
There are two stages. The first is ours. We file your order after your payment is confirmed. We do not promise a fixed filing time, because we check each payment by hand.
The second stage is PKNIC's. Its processing time is outside our control, so we do not promise a finish time for it either.
Use the order tracking page to see where your order stands. If you need a date for a launch, tell us on WhatsApp before you pay, and we will say what we know.
A domain is not a website. After registration you still need hosting or a site. See our guide “Domain vs hosting: what is the difference?” for the difference.
If your name is taken, and how to avoid scams
If a name is taken, you have options. Look at the same name with another ending on the list of extensions. Browse owners who sell on the marketplace. Or add the name to the watchlist and be told if it becomes available.
On our marketplace, payment is held in escrow until the transfer is done. That protects both sides. Read our guide “How domain escrow works” for how it works.
Common scams are easy to spot. Be careful with a seller who wants payment before showing proof of ownership. Be careful with anyone who asks you to register the domain in their name. Avoid deals with no written record.
Check who owns a name on the WHOIS lookup. More tips are on our guide “Common domain scams in Pakistan and how to avoid them”.
Common questions
Which company registers .pk domains?
PKNIC is the registry that runs .pk. Orders reach PKNIC through registrars and resellers. SastiDomains is a small Pakistani company that files .pk orders for customers. We are not PKNIC.
Can I pay for a domain with JazzCash?
Yes, at SastiDomains. We accept JazzCash, Easypaisa, Raast and bank transfer, all in rupees. Pay the amount we quote and send us the receipt on WhatsApp. Pay only to the accounts we give you.
How long does .pk domain registration take?
We file your order after your payment is confirmed. After that, the timing depends on PKNIC, and we do not promise a set time for either stage. You can follow your order on the order tracking page.
Is it safe to buy a domain online in Pakistan?
It is safe if you buy from a seller who registers the domain in your own name and shows clear prices. Check the owner on the WHOIS lookup afterwards. Never pay to personal accounts of strangers, and use escrow for second-hand names.
Where can I buy a .pk domain?
You can buy a .pk domain from a registrar or reseller that sends orders to PKNIC. SastiDomains does this for customers in Pakistan and abroad, with live availability checks. Start at the .pk page or the order form.
Do I need a company to register a .pk domain?
No. PKNIC's fee page lists no company requirement for an ordinary .pk name, and PKNIC has a separate process for domains owned by individuals. Choose the registrant name with care, because changing it later means posting original signed documents to PKNIC. Ask us on WhatsApp if your case is unusual.
Can a foreigner register a .pk domain?
Yes. PKNIC sets a fee for registrants based outside Pakistan. It is USD 15.99 per year, against Rs 2,100 per year for Pakistan-based registrants from 1 August 2026.
What documents do I need to register a .pk domain?
PKNIC's public pages list no document for an ordinary .pk registration. You give the registrant name and contact details. Documents are needed later only if you change the registrant or move to another registrar: an affidavit on Rs 100 stamp paper for individuals, or a signed company letter, plus a CNIC copy, sent to PKNIC by post. Keep your contact details current.
Will the domain be in my name?
Yes. We register every domain in the customer's own name. We do not hold it as ours. You can check the registrant on our guide “How to find out who owns a .pk domain”.
How does renewal work for a .pk domain?
PKNIC bills in two-year blocks, up to ten years. Renew before the end date to avoid losing the name. See our guide “How to Renew a .pk Domain (and What It Costs)” and the price list for current figures.
Can I transfer a .pk domain to another registrar?
Yes, through PKNIC's Change Registrar process. The domain must not be expired. PKNIC needs original signed documents by post, not scans: an attested affidavit for individuals or a company authority letter, plus a CNIC copy. PKNIC says the move takes about three to four business days after it verifies the documents. Our steps are on our guide “.pk domain transfer, step by step”. Ask us on WhatsApp before you start.
What do I do if the .pk name I want is taken?
Try another ending on the list of extensions, look for the owner on the marketplace, or add the name to the watchlist. Our marketplace holds payment in escrow during a sale. You can also read our guide “How to buy a domain that is already taken”.
