Can overseas Pakistanis register a .pk domain?

Yes. PKNIC, the .pk registry, publishes a separate fee for registrants based outside Pakistan: US$15.99 per domain per year, billed in two-year periods. Its fee page lists no residency or Pakistani address requirement. You can order directly or through a Pakistan-based service, with your own name as the registrant.

What PKNIC says about registrants abroad

PKNIC runs the .pk registry. Its website sets two fee tiers: one for registrants based in Pakistan and one for registrants or registrars based outside it. An overseas rate suggests that people abroad can register .pk names.

We checked PKNIC's fee page and found no stated requirement that you live in Pakistan. Location is used to set the price, not as an eligibility test.

Rules can change, and the registry has the final word. Before you pay anyone, confirm the current terms on PKNIC's own website.

What it costs from abroad

For a registrant outside Pakistan, PKNIC's fee is US$15.99 per domain per year. PKNIC says this overseas rate did not change in its August 2026 update.

Pakistan-based registrants pay Rs 2,100 per year from 1 August 2026, up from Rs 1,800. So the two groups pay in different currencies and at different levels.

PKNIC charges in two-year periods, and a domain can be paid for up to ten years. Your first payment covers at least two years, so plan your budget for the full block.

The tier depends on where the registrant is based. Ask whoever handles your order which rate they are charging. Registrars and resellers may also add their own charges, so ask for the final total.

  • Overseas: US$15.99 per year
  • Pakistan-based: Rs 2,100 per year (from 1 Aug 2026)
  • Billing: two-year periods, up to ten years

Paying from outside Pakistan

PKNIC has a How to Pay page. Check it for the payment routes it accepts. We do not list them here because they can change.

If you go through a registrar, you normally pay that registrar in the way it allows. Check the currency, any card or transfer fees, and the exchange rate before you confirm.

If you would rather pay in rupees, a family member or trusted contact in Pakistan can place the order. Our own customers pay in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa. See /pricing/ for how we show costs.

Keep your own name as registrant

PKNIC fixes the registrant name at the time of registration. If a cousin or friend registers the domain in his own name, he is the owner on record, not you.

That causes trouble later. If he changes his mind or loses contact, the domain is stuck with him. Moving it to your name afterwards can be slow or impossible.

So when someone in Pakistan helps, give them your full legal name and contact details. They should only place the order and pay. The registrant must be you.

We register new domains in the customer's own name through PKNIC or a registrar. Read /register-pk-domain/ for the steps, and /pk-domain/ for what a .pk name is.

Using a service in Pakistan to register for you

You may prefer to hand the work to a local team. We are a small Pakistani company, not a registrar. We check availability live, then register through PKNIC or a registrar, with you as the registrant.

Orders come in on WhatsApp. We aim to file the same working day the payment arrives. Unpaid orders cancel after 48 hours. If a name is taken before we file, you get a full refund.

Start by searching your name at /domains/ or get ideas at /ideas/. If you are unsure between endings, /pk-vs-com-pk-vs-com/ compares them. Then place the request at /order/.

Ask any helper, us included, to show the registrant name before you pay.

Before you order: a short checklist

A few minutes of care saves months of trouble. Go through these points before you pay anyone.

If the name you want is already registered, you may still be able to buy it from its owner. Our marketplace holds payment in escrow until the deal is done. Browse it at /#browse, or read /buy-domain/ first.

  • Search the exact name and check the spelling twice
  • Write your full legal name as the registrant
  • Confirm the total in your own currency, including any fees
  • Remember the two-year billing period
  • Keep your contact email and phone up to date, as PKNIC asks holders to do
  • Check the naming rules at /domain-name-rules/
