.org.pk for NGOs and trusts: rules and documents
PKNIC lists .org.pk for non-profit organisations, so NGOs, trusts and welfare groups are the natural users. Its public pages do not give a separate document checklist for .org.pk, so confirm any paperwork with PKNIC before you pay. We register the name in your organisation's own name.
Who .org.pk is meant for
PKNIC's domain structure page lists .org.pk for non-profit organisations. That fits the groups most people in Pakistan think of: NGOs, charitable trusts, welfare societies and community associations.
The page does not publish a separate eligibility test for .org.pk. It says only that domain-specific terms win where they differ from the general registration policy.
So the safe reading is simple. If you run a genuine non-profit, .org.pk matches its stated purpose. If you run a shop or a consultancy, a business extension fits better. See /extensions/ for the full list.
Does PKNIC ask for documents?
We could not find a published document checklist for .org.pk on PKNIC's public pages. We will not guess one.
That does not tell us what, if anything, PKNIC may ask of an NGO. PKNIC's site gives staff@pknic.net.pk for questions it does not answer.
Our advice is to keep your registration certificate or trust deed ready, along with an office-bearer's CNIC, in case you are asked. Email PKNIC if you want certainty before paying.
- Do not send documents to anyone who is not PKNIC or the registrar handling your order.
- Ask us on WhatsApp if you are unsure. We will tell you what we know and what we do not.
Fees, term and who owns the name
PKNIC's fee for registrants based in Pakistan is Rs 2,100 per year from 1 August 2026. For overseas registrants it is USD 15.99 per year. PKNIC bills in two-year blocks, so plan for two years at least.
PKNIC fixes the registrant name at registration. That matters for an NGO. If a volunteer registers the name in a personal name and later leaves, the group may struggle to prove it owns the domain.
We register new domains in the customer's own name, so give us the exact legal name of your organisation, not an individual's. Check availability on /domains/ and see the full price on /pricing/.
Naming tips for NGOs and trusts
A clear name helps donors recognise you. Use your registered name or the short form people already know.
PKNIC allows third-level names such as .org.pk from one character up to 63 characters. A name cannot start with a dash or contain two dashes in a row, and some reserved names are blocked. Our /domain-name-rules/ page explains the basics.
Practical tips:
- Keep it short enough to say on the phone or read out on a radio spot.
- Skip numbers and dashes; they get misheard.
- Check that the spelling works in English and in Urdu transliteration.
- Search /domains/ first, then try /ideas/ if your first choice is taken.
Alternatives to .org.pk
You can also use .pk or .com. A .pk name is shorter, and PKNIC sets a four-character minimum for it. A .com is familiar to overseas donors. Neither is limited to non-profits.
Each choice has trade-offs. A .org.pk matches a non-profit's purpose. A .pk points to Pakistan. A .com is the easiest to guess. Read /pk-vs-com-pk-vs-com/ for a side-by-side view.
If the name you want is already owned, you can browse existing names on our marketplace at /#browse. Payment is held in escrow until the transfer is done.
How we register it for you
We are a small Pakistani company. We are not PKNIC and are not affiliated with it. We check availability live, then file the registration through PKNIC or a registrar, in your organisation's name.
Order on /order/ or message us on WhatsApp. You can pay in rupees by bank transfer, Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa.
We aim to file the same working day your payment arrives. An unpaid order cancels after 48 hours. If a name is taken before we file, you get a full refund.
If someone else holds the domain you want, see /buy-domain/ for how a purchase works.
